POSTING DATE: December 13, 2023
JOB TITLE: Collection Management Assistant, Grade 17
LOCATION: Headquarters Library
DATE AVAILABLE: February 1, 2024
SALARY: $2,305 per month (Includes generous benefits package)

HOURS: 40 hours per week

Monday-Friday 9am to 6pm



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must pass pre-employment testing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Coordinates with collection development librarians, branch and department heads to order, receive, process and catalog serials, periodicals and standing orders
  • Communicate with vendors to troubleshoot subscription issues
  • Assists cataloging librarians by entering item records, including series and volume information, in a timely manner so that materials are available to the public by street date
  • Perform regular catalog record correction including on-the-fly record creation
  • Participates in departmental workflow analysis, cross-training, including item level processing, and serves as backup when necessary.
  • Substitutes in other departments and branches as needed


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • General knowledge of the procedures, practices, and equipment of a public library
  • Strong technology skills and ability to work with a variety of devices and software
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong work ethic
  • Highly flexible with a willingness to adapt to change
  • Organized with good time management and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills that display a positive attitude
