JOB TITLE: Retail Store Manager, Grade 24
LOCATION: Pages on Pine, a branch of the Spartanburg County Public Libraries
DATE AVAILABLE: December 1, 2024
SALARY: $46,082 per year (Includes generous benefit package)

HOURS: 40 hours per week

Monday through Friday 9:00am to 6:00pm; Occasional weekend as needed.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree or any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited community college with major course work in retailing or related field. Must complete pre-employment testing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Operates and promotes retail services of Pages on Pine on behalf of the Friends of the Library; manages Retail Store Assistant; recruits and trains volunteers.
Serves as a staff liaison with Friends of the Spartanburg County Public Libraries.
Sets up displays and maintains the appearance of the store.
Recruits and trains volunteers in store operations including opening, closing, security, cash register operation, handling credit cards and customer service.
Maintains records regarding volunteers; manages Kennedy Free Press book sales and keeps records of those purchases.
Prepares and makes bank deposits; reports on store finances during Friends of the Library’s board meetings; provides insights to the store’s needs and operations.
Oversees daily donations and keeps all books organized.
Remains safe and aware of safety and security issues and takes appropriate action as needed; remains aware of facility related issues as well and takes appropriate action as needed.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Bachelor’s Degree or any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited community college with major course work in retailing or related field;
Experience in retail sales operations including sources of supply for an array of goods;
Knowledge and experience recruiting, training and retaining volunteers;
Knowledge of procurement terms and of methods used to order and market retail goods as well as the ability to post accounts and perform mathematical calculations quickly and accurately;
Driver’s license valid in the State of South Carolina with the ability to drive to other libraries or community outreach;
