Service Announcements


Beginning May 16, 2021

Beginning May 16th, the Libraries will extend hours at most locations to regular pre-COVID operating hours.

As we head into May, the Cowpens and Middle Tyger Libraries will continue with limited opening hours of Monday - Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

All of our other branch locations will go back to regular pre-COVID hours beginning May 16.

Until May 16th, the Boiling Springs, Chesnee, Cyrill-Westside, Landrum, Pacolet, Woodruff and Headquarters Libraries will be open Monday - Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday - Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Both the Cyrill-Westside and Headquarters Libraries will also be open on Sundays from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.


Beginning April 4th, 2021

Beginning April 4th, the Libraries will extend hours at select locations:

  • Cyrill-Westside will be open on Sundays from 2pm-6pm.

  • Boiling Springs, Chesnee, Cyrill-Westside, Headquarters, Landrum, Pacolet, and Woodruff all will stay open until 8pm on Mondays and Tuesdays.


Beginning February 21, 2021

Beginning February 21st, the Headquarters Library will be open 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sundays.


Beginning October 1, 2020

Beginning October 1, all Spartanburg County Public Library locations are offering curbside services for holds pick up only. Please contact your local branch for details.


Beginning September 28, 2020

Beginning September 28, all Spartanburg County Public Library locations are open Monday - Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.; and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. The Children's Playground at the Headquarters library remains closed. Patrons are asked to practice social distancing. Masks are encouraged as it may help reduce the spread of COVID. Your safety and the safety of staff are important. We look forward to seeing you!


Beginning August 3, 2020

Study tables are available at all Spartanburg County Public Library locations by reservation only.
Call your local library to reserve. Masks are required.

Beginning August 1, 2020

  • Patrons may check out materials and pick up holds.

  • All locations will offer express internet services and free printing.

  • The SparkSpace makerspace at Headquarters Library will open August 3 by appointment only. If you wish to make an appointment, please call Information Services at 864-596-3505.

  • Notary services resumed July 6 where available.

  • The Headquarters Library also resumed processing passport applications by appointment only on July 6. This will only be for routine new or renewal applications, with no immediate/specific travel date. Expect significant delays in processing. Due to COVID-19, no expedited processing will be offered. We cannot provide a specific update on when you will receive your new passport or when your citizenship documents will be returned. Masks will be required. If you still wish to make an appointment, please call Information Services at 864-596-3505.

  • The Kennedy Room of Local History and Genealogy will be open for limited in person research appointments lasting one hour. To schedule an appointment, please contact the Kennedy Room staff at least 24 hours in advance at 864-596-3508 or you can use our Contact Us form and select the Kennedy Room department to schedule your appointment. Our staff will pull your requested materials prior to your appointment time so that you can make the most of your hour long appointment. No more than 2 researchers per appointment.

General Information:



  • The library is no longer charging late fees for overdue items. All items should be returned by the due date. A replacement fee will be charged to your account for any item not returned within two weeks of the due date.

  • Returned items are quarantined for 72 hours and it may take up to 5 days before items are checked in.

  • Most of our branch locations have wi-fi available from our parking lots. Wi-fi will still be available during this time.

  • All SC DISCUS resources are temporarily available by IP authentication in South Carolina. NO username or password required for remote access.

  • Bookpage Magazine is offering issues available online for free.
